The South Jersey Lynx have partnered with Virtua Center for Sports Medicine to provide outstanding comprehensive care to players and staff.  This partnership will give Lynx players access to Virtua’s services which include,

·         Sports Medicine

·         Orthopaedic Sport Medicine

·         Concussion Management Program

·         Physical Therapy

·         Sports Nutritional Counseling

·         Immediate Care Center

·         Imaging

Virtua Sports Medicine has been leading the way in the South Jersey area for implementing the ImPACT test for athletes and the South Jersey Lynx players will be ImPACT tested before the 2012 season.  This is the same test used by the National Football League and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).  According to ImPACT.com, "it is important to manage concussions on an individualized basis and to implement baseline testing and/or post-injury neurocognitive testing."  ImPACT, which stands for Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing, is a program developed in the early 1990's to help physicians analyze the effects of concussions.  This baseline test will help team doctors in deciding whether or not a player is fit to return after receiving a concussion.  Some of the features that the test has include the ability to measure player symptoms, measure verbal and visual memory, and process speed and reaction time to the 1/100th of a second.

Virtua’s state-of-the-art fitness centers are medically based, world-class facilities that include indoor tracks, 25-meter pools, certified fitness specialists, physical therapy and aquatic therapy.  Virtua’s certified fitness specialists have trained players from the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, LA Lakers, Villanova University, St. Joseph’s University and now the South Jersey Lynx.
