CAMDEN, New Jersey -- As the summer of 2012 quickly approaches, this season will be a special one for the South Jersey Lynx. This will be the 10th year and the organization plans on celebrating their feat during the entire season. Plans are already under way for this to be the best season yet. The improvements made are attributed to the reorganization of the franchise that was initiated by Lynx owner Marty Cross two years ago. Head Coach Lester Cream Jr., the only other staff member who has been with the team since 2003, welcomes the changes and has added his own input and suggestions to the process. In the previous 9 seasons of this franchise, the road was definitely bumpier than it had to be but the team was winning and winning is a band-aid for all ailments. In that time, the Lynx have compiled a record of 81 wins, 23 loses and 2 ties.
The staff now has a different approach and it will be noticed immediately upon the start of the 2012 season. The Lynx will be competing in the Gridiron Developmental Football League for their second season and look to improve upon last seasons’ disappointing loss to the Hampton Roads Hurricanes in the first round of the GDFL playoffs. Last season was a frustrating season, as it was expressed by several players; it is difficult to enjoy playing the sport when you are not having fun. “We want to bring the fun back to this franchise”, said Cross, “That starts at the top and we, as an organization, are committed to providing that atmosphere for our players, they deserve it.”
The 2012 season will begin on June 2nd and the Lynx will be more ready than ever. Prospective players who are interested in joining this dynamic team can register at southjerseylynx.org. The SJ Lynx will be having a combine in early March and details of the event will be released in the near future. The season will be here before you know it, WILL YOU BE WITNESS?
Season tickets will be available for purchase in March.
